Family Advocates and Law Enforcement Liaisons

Experienced Retired Law Enforcement Experts

Don MacMillan, Manager, Advocacy and Investigative Services leads the teams focused on Pillar Number One - Justice.

This includes family advocacy, Law enforcement Liaison, recruiting, selecting and training all Family Advocates.  He leads the Investigative Service teams,  He selects, onboards and mentors all incoming Indigenous Advocates in Training. MMIP recruits best in class retired law enforcement officers Investigators with significant experience in Homicide/ Major Crime and Missing Persons Crime investigations. These highly regulated professionals are jurisdictionally licensed and can assist families in their search of missing family members.

MMIP Family Advocates support families in multiple ways......

  • Advocates/Advisors
  • Law enforcement Liaison
  • Initiate rapid response for newly reported cases.
  • Support investigations in progress while ensuring the integrity of investigations remain intact.
  • Direct communication and collaboration with Law enforcement

Our team can be the families voice to enhance communication and provide regular updates.

In addition to the years of experience, they are actively engaged in programs including Conscious Inclusion, Cultural Diversity and Effective Indigenous Community Communications.

In their role of Trainer and Mentor to Indigenous Investigators in Training, it is imperative that our Investigators have a deep understanding of the historical events and systemic challenges which have led to the high risk environments where many vulnerable Indigenous people now live. Compassion, understanding, empathy and respect are the primary attributes we seek out.

Respectful collaboration is at the heart of MMIP.
