She investigated large scale industrial incidents including, fatalities and led a team of Loss Prevention professionals for over 19 years. She has worked with Indigenous business and communities across Canada to grow opportunity for Indigenous people. Vawn is a member of the English River First Nation located in Northern Saskatchewan
Vice - President, Co-Founder
Former RCMP Superintendent, Ward Clapham, is a sought after Author, Leadership Trainer and highly skilled and experienced investigator. Ward has spent his career focused on growing a culture of proactive policing and created the impactful “Positive Ticketing program”, which caught the eye of the Author of the Seven Habits of highly effective people, Dr. Stephen Covey prompting multiple collaborations. Ward is a true role model and works to build relationships with communities across Canada t through to provide us with a better life.
Vice President, Justice and Advocacy
Retired RCMP Major Crime Detective, Don worked throughout Canada and the United States, coordinated with multiple municipal provincial and federal policing agencies. Through Don's career he became an expert in the gathering of intelligence on subjects and operations. He coordinated investigations on Major Crimes, worked undercover and was instrumental in the arrests of the targets of the operations. Don's meticulous in document preparation in order to provide the best information to the courts where required as he has been called upon many times to give expert opinion/ evidence during trials. Over the years he became an exceptional leader coach mentor and friend to many.
Investigations and Ground Search Team Leader
A member of the Kehewin Cree Nation, Inuvialuiat, Ken served as an RCMP member, Louis Bull Police Officer, Hobbema Police Service, Dakota Ojibway Police Service and Kehewin law enforcement.
Ken works with emergency services and lands management within the Kehewin Territory and is an active volunteer for St. Paul Search and Rescue.
Ken has joined MMIP as a Family Advocate/Investigator and is the team leader responsible for the development and execution of the Ground Search program. Ken coordinates with communities that are in need of search support and develops training for comminutes to build their capabilities.
Investigations, Cyber Crime/Missing and Exploited People
Brad Martin is an investigator with over three decades of police and private investigations experience. He was a Calgary City police officer for twenty-five years and a private investigator for a well known software company for sixteen years.
Brad has extensive training in the examination of crime scenes, is a highly skilled interviewer and interrogator, and is very familiar with major crimes and organized crimes investigations. He has been a cyber crimes investigator for twenty-four years and has been a subject matter expert on Child Exploitation for well over two decades.
Brad is well regarded as a passionate pursuer of justice and accountability, and lives with a heartfelt understanding and awareness of the issues of divergence and social injustice.
Family Advocate/Investigator in Training
Pamela joined our team as an Investigator in Training, a Family Advocate and supports Ground Search programs. She also delivers Healing with Horses to MMIP families. Through this Healing Pillar Program, she helps victims of violence and their families work through trauma experienced by all members of the family.
Through Pamela''s history working with Indigenous communities and her service in Corrections Canada she brings great compassion and caring to her role. She has a deep connection to the plight of families suffering trauma related to the loss of a loved one. She is committed to bringing her care and compassion to MMIP and our families.
Consultant, Investigation, Homicide and Major Crime
Retired RCMP Homicide Detective / Staff Sergeant 35 years. Sgt. Eastham was the lead Detective in the Wells Gray Provincial Park Murders and primary Law Enforcement Officer to initiate National Campaign to bring awareness to the Highway 16 Murders/Highway of Tears,
His investigations into Missing and Murdered Women spanned more than the Highway of Tears from Prince Rupert to Prince George, and encompassed most of the Yellowhead highway from BC to Manitoba.
He’s is an author, an advocate for MMIWG and respected role model in Canadian Law enforcement.
Chairman, Board of Directors
We are proud and appreciative to share that Chief Cameron Alexis has kindly accepted the role of Chairman of the MMIP Family Matters Board of Directors.
Chief Alexis has dedicated many years to the service of Indigenous people and communities. He served with distinction for 23 years with the RCMP, led the Alexis Nakota Nation for over 6 years. He went on to serve a term as the Assembly of First Nations Regional Chief of Alberta, Additionally, as Grande Chief, he represented Treaty Six in Alberta.
In addition to his many accomplishments in these roles, he served as Chief Executive Officer of the North Peace Tribal Council. He continues to share knowledge and expertise as the Chief Executive Officer of Tribal Chiefs Ventures Inc.
We are grateful for the opportunity to work alongside Chief Alexis. His depth of experience and heartfelt commitment to Indigenous communities bring a thoughtful and steady presence to our leadership..
Board of Directors
Retired RCMP and Former Chief of the Big Stone Cree Nation, Ralph Cardinal brings vast experience working to build safer Indigenous communities.
During his service, he was posted to nine Indigenous Communities in Alberta, British Columbia and the Yukon Territory. His approach to positive policing and community engagement was recognized and he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in charge of the Gang Unit.
Since Retiring,
Ralph has continued his service as an established community leader and Indigenous role model, he continues to bring significant positive impacts to each community he works with. We extremely fortunate and honored to have Chief Ralph Cardinal serve on the MMIP Family Matters Board of Directors.
MMIP Elder Committee Chairman and Retired RCMP Member
Elder Abraham is from the Frog Lake First Nation. He speaks fluent Cree and has worked and has served Indigenous people and communities over his impressive career.
he hold the prestigious role of Indigenous Advisor to the RCMP K Division commissioner and consults RCMP leadership on matters of vital importance to Indigenous people.
In addition to his work to bring justice and healing to Indigenous families, he continues to work with industry as an Indigenous Construction Liaison for the purposes of maintaining and restoring traditional lands of the Cree people. He has been instrumental in the process of reconciliation within industry.
Majority Indigenous owned, Non Profit Partnership was formed to serve the most vulnerable Indigenous people. Our Mission is to provide highly skilled and experienced advocates and law enforcement liaisons free of charge to help Indigenous families and communities in their search for answers.
We engage with public and private sector to further the recommendations stemming from the Commission on Truth and Reconciliation and Reports on Missing and Murdered Indigenous People.
MMIP intends to provide financial support to communities to increase education and prevention programs to decrease systemic risk to vulnerable Indigenous people.
We commit to Invest in the development of technology that will reduce the likelihood of further human loss.
We will Invest in Indigenous people to continue the work we have started and lead MMIP into the future and will be 100% Indigenous owned and operated by 2030.
